Commissions
What kind of commissions do you accept?
I accept commissions for items that resemble my existing work (see my gallery or Instagram). Please see below for details on how to request a commission, the probable timeline, and pricing. I do not complete hyperrealistic work, so any specific requests (for nature scenes, animals, pets, etc.) will involve some degree of artistic license as I decide how to interpret your request! I will do my best to predict the color results before firing, but please note there may be some variation after firing.
How do I set up a commission and what is the timeline?
Please allow ~8-10 weeks for the completion of your commission (non-inclusive of shipping time).
- Request a commission through Instagram or email. Please include the following:
- Photo references of the nature scene/vibe or animal/pet you have in mind. If you are requesting a pet, please include pictures from multiple angles and the name. Please include backup design ideas as I may not be able to complete all requests.
- The type of item you are commissioning (teapot, mug, chopstick/brush holder, etc.)
- A written description of what you are envisioning for the final product
- 3-5 essential details you would like to see on the final piece (special markings on an animal, a specific type of tree, etc.)
- If you do not specifically request otherwise, I may post process photos and final photos of your commission on social media. Please also let me know whether you would like me to keep photos of the commission off social media.
- I will contact you as soon as I receive your request to confirm receipt. I will contact you again within three business days of receipt to confirm that I can take your commission or to discuss the details with you further.
- If we agree on the commission items, design, and pricing I will set up a commissioned product page for you on my online shop. This purchase is only partially refundable up until the first firing of your product.
- Once you have paid for the reserved item, I will begin work on your commission and send you a photo of the piece in the greenware stage (so the item will be in the final shape and any painted designs will be visible. Interior liner glazes will not yet be applied and there is natural color variation between this stage of the final product as glazes will change color during firing.) via the original communication method used to request the commission. At this point, please communicate with me your approval of the project or otherwise.
- If I do not hear from you within a week of sending this photo, I will assume approval of the item and proceed with the first stage of firing. After this stage, your original reservation fee (50% of the product price) is non-refundable.
- I may make several variations of the piece and have you select your favorite. The other pieces may be sold in my shop at other points.
- I will send a photo of the finished product before shipping it to you. Once I hear back, I will ship the product as soon as possible. If I do not hear from you within a week of sending this photo, I will assume approval of the item and proceed with shipping.
- If, for any reason, you are unhappy with the final product, please communicate with me, and I would be happy to remake the item at no additional cost. I would also be able to refund the original price minus the reservation and commission fees (with the condition that the product may be sold in my shop).
Please note that ceramics can be unpredictable, especially when it comes to color! There may be some colors I cannot replicate with the glazes I have available, and this will factor into whether or not I can take a commission.
By purchasing a commission, you agree to the above terms.
Pricing Table
50% of the item price is considered the reservation fee, which is non-refundable after the first firing stage of the item (see step 4 of “How do I set up a commission and what is the timeline?” above). 15% of the item price is the commission fee, which is nonrefundable. The size will vary from the estimate provided below.
